Low Emission Glass

Low Emission Glass (Low-E Glass): An Important Solution for Energy Efficiency

Low emissivity glass, or Low-E glass for short, is a type of glass that reduces heat loss and uses solar energy more efficiently by applying a special coating to its surface. Thanks to this coating, heat loss from the inner surface of the glass to the outside is minimized, while solar energy from outside is admitted in a controlled manner.

Advantages of Low-E Glass

  • Energy Efficiency: Reduces heating and cooling costs by reducing heat loss.
  • Comfortable Living Spaces: Provides a cool environment in summer and a warm environment in winter.
  • Sun Control: Prevents dazzle by controlling the penetration of sunlight.
  • Environmentally Friendly: It is an environmentally friendly solution by reducing fossil fuel consumption.
  • Long-Lasting: Thanks to its special coating, it is long-lasting and durable.

Usage Areas of Low-E Glass

Low-E glass can be used in residences, offices, shopping malls and many different structures. It is frequently preferred especially in window and door systems.

  • Residences: Making houses more comfortable and energy efficient by using them on windows and balcony doors.
  • Offices: Keeping the indoor temperature under control and saving energy in office buildings with large glass surfaces.
  • Shopping Centers: To provide an aesthetic appearance and save energy by using it in showcases and facades.

How Does Low-E Glass Work?

The working principle of Low-E glass is quite simple. A very thin metal coating applied to the inner surface of the glass transmits visible light and reflects most of the infrared (heat) rays. Thus, while the indoor heat does not go out in the winter months, the sun's heat energy enters in the summer months, preventing the environment from overheating.
